Location Spotlight: Monaco
As November approached and the winter chill started creeping in, my partner and I decided to embark on a luxurious getaway to Monaco. Despite its small size, Monaco promised us a wealth of experiences, from high-end shopping and gourmet dining to rich history and stunning architecture.
Our journey began in Monte Carlo, Monaco's most famous district. The iconic Monte Carlo Casino beckoned us, a symbol of the principality's glamour and opulence. Neither of us were big gamblers, but the allure of exploring this historic building was too strong to resist. The casino's stunning architecture and luxurious ambiance left us in awe. After trying our luck at the tables, we wandered around the area, discovering some of the world's most exclusive boutiques. From designer clothing to exquisite jewelry, Monte Carlo offered a shopping experience like no other.
While in Monte Carlo, we delved into its rich history. A visit to the Prince's Palace was a must, perched high on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. This stunning palace, the official residence of the Sovereign Prince of Monaco since the 13th century, offered breathtaking views of the surrounding area. We were fortunate enough to witness the changing of the guard ceremony, a colorful spectacle that added to the palace's charm.
When traveling, we always find it important to make sure that we incorporate major memories into our experiences and Kelly found the best way to do that. A tattoo for her GG, who was 102 at the time! Dixième Tattoo in Monaco holds a unique position as the principality's sole tattoo studio, making it a standout destination for tattoo enthusiasts in the area. What sets it apart even more is that it is owned and operated by a woman, adding a layer of empowerment and inclusivity to its identity. Located in the prestigious Monte Carlo district, Dixième Tattoo specializes in fine line tattooing, offering a blend of artistic expression and luxury. Catering to a diverse clientele seeking personalized, high-quality tattoo experiences, the studio's female ownership adds a refreshing perspective to the traditionally male-dominated industry. It has become a symbol of empowerment and creativity in Monaco's tattoo scene.
Our trip wouldn't have been complete without a visit to the Oceanographic Museum in Monte Carlo. Founded by Prince Albert I in 1910, this museum boasted a vast collection of marine artifacts and exhibits. The aquarium, in particular, was a highlight, housing over 6,000 species of marine life. We spent hours exploring the exhibits and learning about the importance of marine conservation.
Our November escape to Monaco was truly unforgettable. Whether you're drawn to its luxurious casinos and boutiques, its rich history and culture, or its stunning natural beauty, Monaco has something for every couple. We highly recommend planning your own escape to Monaco and experiencing the magic of this enchanting principality together.
